Happy Diwali Festival 2021
Diwali, also known as the festival of lights, a Hindu celebration lit up Luton last weekend. Hundreds of Lutonians from various cultural backgrounds joined the worldwide celebration in The Mall George’s Square in Luton.
The festival highlights Lutonians’ cultural cohesion and community spirit through the various performers and the audience.
The celebrations kicked off with Garba dancers from Swarni Arts. The audience was amazed at the talent of Giovanni Hutton, The Voice UK finalist, and the performance by Jaz Dhami.
Luton’s counselor, Javeria Hussain, the current chair of the London Luton Airport, highlighted the significant meaning of the Diwali celebration and its role in bringing different communities together and celebrating our diversity and aspirations.
The festival ended with a parade around the square led by some community leaders such as Rachel Hopkins, Luton South MP, and a fireworks display. Happy Diwali.
